Federal Rules on Individual Shared Responsibility Exemptions

This June 2013 CMS fact sheet summarizes federal eligibility rules for receiving an exemption from the individual shared responsibility provision. The rules will ease implementation and help to ensure that the shared responsibility payment obligation applies only to the limited group of taxpayers who have ready access to affordable coverage but choose to spend a substantial period of time uninsured. ACA to Expand Mental Health Benefits for 62 Million Americans

In one of the largest expansions of mental health and substance use disorder coverage in a generation, the Affordable Care Act will expand mental health and substance use disorder benefits and parity protections for 62 million Americans. This February 2013 ASPE research brief from HHS describes the three distinct ways that benefits and parity protections are being expanded.
