The National Prevention Strategy was developed to guide our nation in the most effective and achievable means for improving health and well-being. The Strategy prioritizes prevention by integrating recommendations and actions across multiple settings to improve health and save lives.This June 2011 report is the product of the National Prevention Council, a team of 17 heads of departments, agencies, and offices across the federal government, headed by the Surgeon General.
